my response
During this workshop, we learned how to create a basic shape for sketching out typography, the steps for drawing a type face inclue - 1. Area, 2. Contour and 3. Fill. In this order, Dave showed us how we could then begin to create basic shapes for our own type faces, and then move onto FontForge to edit them or to recreate the drawing. After we used those rules (Fig 1 and 2) Dave went onto saying that if we followed these rules -

Contrast
Repetition
Alightment
Proportion

After using these constraints and redrawing our typeface with a baseline and paying attention to how we shade and outline our type the results looked defined and began to create a font. (Fig 3)

Dave Crossland came to give a talk and a workshop on how to use FontForge as well as the benefits of webfonts, which eventually will help me with the design of my Hotglue website. Currently I have issues with type, as the restriction that Hotglue has is that you can only use the given fonts.
